5 realistic New Year's resolutions

Try something new

Instead of giving something up in 2018, why not take something up instead? Add spice into your fitness routine with an entirely different activity! Whether you decide to set a date for scrambling up a mountain or learn how to surf the waves of the English coast, starting a new hobby is exciting, invigorating and bound to get you raring to go!

Expert advice also shows that mixing up your fitness routine can help to develop your cardiovascular fitness while giving your body some respite from running.

Join a running club

2018 is the time to take your running to the next level! There are heaps of friendly clubs and running groups throughout the UK ready for you to rock up and join in. From making new running buddies, to finally beating that PB, a running club is the perfect place to hone your skills. Many running clubs also let you go along for your first session free to see if it's right for you.

If you're still not convinced, read why you should join a running club and get involved!

Enter a race

A goal on the horizon is the perfect motivation to keep on running through the dark winter months, so sign up to a race. From February to May and beyond, having an achievable goal in your calendar will give you the boost you need to get out of the door like a pocket rocket.

Go for a New Year's Day run

Turn over that new leaf early, dust off your running shoes and embrace the 1st of January with a New Year's Day run! We've compiled a list of our favourites across the UK, so take your pick. Your head might sting a bit after the NYE celebrations, but you'll thank us later when you're curled up on the sofa feeling smug.
