Rome Marathon

Racing around ‘the City of a Hundred Spires’ has got to be better than a weekend in Blighty. Not only can you secure your marathon dreams in the Czech Republic, you can also toast to your marathon bling with some of the best beer in Europe. It is a relatively flat course, but do be sure to prepare yourself for running along cobbled streets.

If you’re looking for a smaller marathon with some picture perfect views, Mont Saint-Michel should be up there on your long-distance list. Weather dependent, previous years have seen it get a little toasty towards the end of the marathon, although a plus point is not having any hills to contend with - bonus. You can also dip your legs in the sea afterwards. Mother Nature's equivalent to an ice bath.

As a city that can confidently take claim to being one of the gems of Denmark, we can’t find many reasons not to take on the Copenhagen Marathon. Stellar organisation and a flat course will have you well on your way to running an enjoyable race, as well as beautiful architecture, great people and plenty of Danish kanelsnegles after crossing the finish line. We’re sold.

When a city is as jaw-droppingly beautiful as the Swedish capital, a two-lapped route can only be a good thing. Not only will the waterfront calm your nerves, picture perfect sights will help in taking your mind off the road. Taking place a bit later on in the race calendar and time of day, typically starting in the early evening, Norway's Tromsø Midnight Sun Marathon is definitely worth the wait.
